Accessorising evening or formal wear for women can take as much effort as choosing the right dress. It is very easy to ruin the whole look of an outfit by choosing the wrong accessories and, instead of complimenting an outfit, can cause the opposite effect and make it look over the top and garish.
Women also have the added issue of how to wear their hair for such occasions. Very formal and elegant occasions often call for hair to be worn up, and as an added touch clips or slides that accentuate the dress can be worn. When wearing the hair up, drop earrings are ideal as they help to lengthen the neck, which gives off an air of classic authority and inner confidence. Studs are suitable when wearing the hair down and this also stops any accidental tangles from occurring.
Necklines must also be considered before choosing which necklace to wear. A heavily patterned top or one with many ruffles or sequins around the neckline will not need any form of necklace. Wearing necklaces with these necklines will look too fussy and over the top. Low cut or plunging necklines are suited to simple drop pendants as the eye will already be drawn to the area due to the style of clothing and will not need to be over stated. Heavy necklaces and those with many layers can look out of place at formal functions.
Minimalism is key in everything from jewellery to make up; the trick is to be remembered for looking gorgeous, not garish.
