A pair of jeans is the one item of clothing that everybody should own. They are hard wearing and can be teamed with casual tops and shoes for an everyday look or worn with smart tops and accessories for an evening out. Denim has been around for over a hundred years and jeans were developed as part of a manual worker’s wardrobe, but rapidly became the ‘must have’ fashion item.

However, finding the perfect pair of designer jeans can be difficult, because we all have a unique body shape and each designer favours different cuts and washes. It is worth trying on several styles, when clothes shopping, in order to find the ones that suit you best.

Skinny jeans are a fashion favourite at the moment, but this is not a style that will suit everyone. Those with a fuller figure may prefer jeans with a looser cut on the leg, as much for comfort as for style. Boot cut jeans are also popular and are designed so they can be comfortably worn over a pair of boots. Flared jeans are a difficult style to wear, but should be avoided by those who are petite, as they can unbalance the figure. They should always be worn with heeled shoes or boots as this helps to give height and elongate the leg.

Many stores offer a free personal shopping service, which will help you to try all the styles available so that you find the right pair for you. As shoppers frequently spend several hours trying to find the right pair, this service can make the task much easier and less tiresome. It’s also great for suggesting other items of clothing that would look with your jeans such as t-shirts, shirts and other types of tops plus its hand to have some tell you what accessories go with certain styles when you are not that sure yourself.

Still in this year for guys are checked shirts, a very popular trend last year has crossed over into 2010, with many shirts now looking a lot more rugged and manly with more of a worker feel to them. With many styles, materials and colours to choose from there are so many different looks to rock in this men’s clothing hot trend.

If you think the bright check shirts are too hard for you to pull off think again, if you go for a bright bold check shirt just tone down your bottom half with slim dark jeans and simple high top boots. If you really want to work this ‘worker’ look opt for a heavy check shirt with a plain white t- shirt underneath and you can wear a pair of thick leather military boots.

You can also work more of a rocker look with a unbuttoned dark check shirt with a graphic t-shirt underneath and straight cut jeans.

G-star check on trend

If look you’re looking for a plain pair of jeans then buy some Levi 501’s they can be purchased from most high street clothing outlets for around £40, they come in a good range of 11 colours from Stonewash which is the usual style of blue denim to Onewash, Black, Light Broken In, Marlon, Dusty Black.

The 501’s where a big hit in the 60’s with the younger generation such as Mods & Rockers, as the jeans would shrink a great deal giving that skinny jean look.

The design of the Levi’s 501 jeans has remained unchanged since the original release date apart from one thing which is the rivet at the bottom of the crotch area. This is due to a Levi employee getting to close to a campfire and the rivet conducting the heat rather to well, since this accident the rivet has been removed.

Everyone in there lifetime has own at least one pair of 501 jeans, i my self have owned at least 2 pairs that i can remember.

Levis have always had great commercials everyone can remember the Flat Eric one from back in 1999 which made the song a global hit but our personal favourite is the advert from 1996 featuring Babylon Zoo’s number 1 hit Space Man
