Premiership champions Chelsea have announced that Italian design house Dolce & Gabbana have signed a new three-year deal to design all formal and casual wear for the club’s players, management team, coaches and staff in the clubs signature blue.

Players like Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba will be dressed in a dark blue three-piece suit with matching shirts and ties plus black shoes and a belt for formal appearances and a more relaxed outfit of jeans, poplin shirt, coat and black trainers for less formal appearances. Their manager, Italian Carlo Ancelotti will wear the same suit however he will have a light blue shirt, the female staff members will also get suits which will include black high heels and a matching trench coat.

As well as a clothing over haul the designers will also provide the director’s lounge at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium and the main reception area with a revamp with blue furniture, oak floors and touches of silver.

This isn’t the first time the designing due have delved into the world of football, last year they worked in their native Italy with AC Milan, designing casual outfits for their summer tour as well as designing suits for the Italian national team at the last two World Cups.

Speaking about their new venture Dolce & Gabbana said: “We are big football fans. For us it means healthy competition, intense passion and great discipline. Football players are style icons both on and off the pitch.”
