You guessed it, the shellsuit. New research commissioned by Galaxy Counters found that an overwhelming 76 of women asked picked out the shellsuit as the worst item of clothing, a fashion faux pas. After the shellsuit was spandex leggings which had 39% of the votes and should be consigned to history as a great fashion no no.

Many people still shudder at the thought of fashion from that era, even more so when some of it pops up again as fashion trends for this decade! Some of the things that the women who were asked would not like to see the return of were Day Glo make-up and stirrup trousers as well as jelly shoes, crimped hair, fingerless gloves and hair metal. All of which in the past few years and even this year have tried to make a comeback in fashion.

However the 80’s were not all full of fashion faux pas in fact one of the most popular items from that era were stone wash denim which had 32% of the votes followed by Wayfarer style plastic sunglasses and leg warmers. All of which have sneaked back into fashion and stayed put!
